All walks produced during May - September 2022 in Ukraine, during the full-scale Russian invasion into the country.
OÏDA, from Catalan, means hearing. The four pieces of this album are soundwalks, prepared by Ukrainian artists that now are also activists and humanitarian volunteers. This album is an invitation to walk together, stepping lightly, accompanied by Dima, Mariia, Svitlana, Ihor, Ivan, Oleksii and others. Listen to these walks with an open heart to take in those shared intimate lives exposed to and transformed by the war.
Each of these walks narrates the timespace in the ongoing war: the transformations of urban space, human relationship to it, relationship to themselves and with other humans, the uneasiness of uncertainty as well as lessons in loving. The walks take different shapes: that of a moment frozen in a photo, that of a dance, a walk over a city, or of a series of voice messages filled with longing and loss amid the rubble and bomb craters.
It is a documentary storytelling project meant to find a way to bridge experiences between distanced bodies, social realities and landscapes. In a desensitizing world of spectacular violence we propose to cut the circuitry of impersonal voyeurism and take time to listen to a human voice.
Thank you for taking time to walk with us.

All the tracks blend nicely into one good sonic experience. The feeling of grief sounds not as a painful but as an existential one. Daina Dieva signature voice brings an ethereal quality that makes the listening experience unique. The III track reminded me of the band Raguvos and their song Lapė. smurfejus

The new album from electroacoustic composer Jeremy Young is draped in a sense of mystery, tones flickering gently, like an old home movie. Bandcamp New & Notable May 9, 2021
